BANGKOK, THAILAND, Monday 18 November 2019 – The 6th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) concluded successfully in Bangkok this afternoon at the Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel marking the end of Thailand’s chairmanship of the ADMM this year.
Representing Brunei Darussalam to the 6th ADMM-Plus was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Second Minister of Defence.
Also in the delegation were Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah, Permanent Secretary of Defence, and Haji Adi Ihram bin Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud, Director of Defence Policy.
In the morning, the Second Minister of Defence with the ADMM and ADMM-Plus Defence Ministers also attended the Opening Ceremony of Defence and Security Exhibition 2019 at the IMPACT Exhibition Centre, Pak Kret. The ADMM-Plus Defence Ministers then attended an Official Luncheon and conducted a Joint Courtesy Call on His Excellency Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Kingdom of Thailand at the Government House, Bangkok.
During the 6th ADMM-Plus, the Second Minister of Defence spoke on the expansion of the ASEAN Direct Communications Infrastructure (ADI) Phase 1 to Plus Countries, where he noted that the Concept Paper on the ‘Expansion of the ASEAN Direct Communications Infrastructure (ADI) in the ADMM Process to Plus Countries’ had been adopted at the 13th ADMM which met in July 2019.
With the conclusion of the 6th ADMM-Plus, Thailand handed over the chairmanship of the ADMM to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the latter of which will be the ASEAN Chair in 2020.

ADMM pada tahun 2019.
Mewakili Negara Brunei Darussalam ke Mesyuarat
ADMM-Plus ke-6 adalah Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Menteri Pertahanan Kedua.
Turut serta dalam rombongan adalah Brigedier Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah, Setiausaha Tetap Kementerian Pertahanan, dan Haji Adi Ihram bin Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud, Pengarah Dasar Pertahanan.

ADMM-Plus seterusnya menghadiri Majlis Makan Tengahari Rasmi dan mengadakan satu Kunjungan Hormat Bersama kepada Tuan Yang Terutama Jeneral Prayut Chan-o-cha, Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Pertahanan Thailand di
Government House, Bangkok.
Semasa Mesyuarat
ADMM-Plus ke-6, Yang Berhormat Menteri Pertahanan Kedua telah menerangkan hasrat Negara Brunei Darussalam untuk mengembangkan Fasa 1 bagi
ASEAN Direct Communications Infrastructure (ADI) kepada negara-negara Plus. Yang Berhormat Menteri Pertahanan juga telah menjelaskan bahawa inisiatif ini telah diluluskan di peringkat
ADMM melalui Kertas Konsep mengenai ‘Expansion of the ASEAN Direct Communications Infrastructure (ADI)
in the ADMM Process to Plus Countries’ yang telah diterima pakai semasa mesyuarat
ADMM ke-13 pada bulan Julai 2019.
Dengan tamatnya mesyuarat
ADMM-Plus ke-6 ini, Thailand telah menyerahkan jawatan pengerusi
ADMM kepada Republik Sosialis Vietnam, yang akan mempengerusikan
ASEAN bagi tahun 2020.
