PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, Thursday, 17 October 2019 – The Honourable Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, the Second Minister of Defence of Brunei Darussalam is in the People’s Republic of China for an official visit at the invitation of His Excellency General Wei Fenghe, Minister of National Defense, from 17 to 22 October 2019.
The official visit began with The Honourable Pehin inspecting the guard of honour by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army at the Ministry of National Defense, Beijing. The Honourable Pehin met with the Minister of National Defense, during which both sides mutually reaffirmed the excellent bilateral defence ties between the two countries, as well as expressed their commitment for deeper and wider cooperation in various areas including multilateral engagements such as the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus). Both Ministers also exchanged views on a range of current security issues, highlighting the growing importance of working closely together to address those challenges.
Also present during the call was His Excellency Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Pahlawan Colonel (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Abdu’r Rahmani bin Dato Paduka Haji Basir, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the People’s Republic of China.
The Honourable Pehin is also travelling to Wuhan for the opening of
the 7th International Military Sports Council (CISM) World Games 2019 on 18 October 2019. The delegation, which includes Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Defence; Captain Spry bin Serudi, RBN, Chief of Staff of RBAF; and Haji Muhammad Shahrul Nizzam bin Umar, Director of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (SHHBIDSS) will also be attending the 9th Beijing Xiangshan Forum 2019 to be held from 20 to 22 October 2019.

MENTERI PERTAHANAN KEDUA MEMBUAT LAWATAN RASMI KE REPUBLIK RAKYAT CHINA
REPUBLIK RAKYAT CHINA, Khamis, 17 Oktober 2019 – Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Menteri Pertahanan Kedua, sedang berada di Republik Rakyat China bagi Lawatan Rasmi atas undangan Tuan Yang Terutama Jeneral Wei Fenghe, Menteri Pertahanan Republik Rakyat China, dari 17 hingga 22 Oktober 2019.
Lawatan Rasmi tersebut bermula dengan Yang Berhormat Pehin memeriksa perbarisan kawalan kehormatan daripada
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army di Kementerian Pertahanan Nasional, Beijing. Yang Berhormat Pehin seterusnya membuat perjumpaan dengan Menteri Pertahanan Republik Rakyat China di mana kedua-dua pihak mengesahkan hubungan pertahanan dua hala yang sangat baik dan bersetuju untuk mengeratkan kerjasama dalam pelbagai bidang, termasuk penglibatan pelbagai hala seperti Mesyuarat Menteri Pertahanan ASEAN dan Negara-Negara Plus (ADMM-Plus). Kedua-dua Menteri juga bertukar pandangan tentang pelbagai isu keselamatan semasa dan menekankan berapa pentingnya untuk bekerjasama dengan lebih rapat dalam menangani cabaran-cabaran berkenaan.
Turut hadir pada kunjungan tersebut ialah Tuan Yang Terutama Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Pahlawan Kolonel (B) Dato Paduka Haji Abdu’r Rahmani bin Dato Paduka Haji Basir, Duta Besar Istimewa dan Mutlak Negara Brunei Darussalam ke Republik Rakyat China.
Yang Berhormat Pehin juga akan bertolak ke Wuhan bagi pembukaan the 7th International Military Sports Council (CISM) World Games 2019 pada 18 Oktober 2019.
