SEOUL, REPUBLIC OF KOREA,
Friday, 6 September 2019 – The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah attended the 3rd ROK-ASEAN Defence Vice-Ministerial Meeting and the 8th Seoul Defense Dialogue at the Lotte Hotel Seoul, the Republic of Korea from 4 to 6 September 2019.
The 3rd ROK-ASEAN Defense Vice-Ministerial Meeting seeks to look back on 30 years of cooperation between ASEAN and the Republic of Korea, and to discuss visions on future defence cooperation and exchange views on cybersecurity. The Meeting was chaired by His Excellency Park Jae-Min, Vice-Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Korea.
Meanwhile, the 8th Seoul Defense Dialogue was officiated by
His Excellency Jeong Kyeongdoo, Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Korea. The Seoul Defense Dialogue is organised annually by the Ministry of National Defence, Republic of Korea since 2012. It is aimed at promoting cooperation on security and peace through dialogue in Asia Pacific, especially in the Korean Peninsula.
This year, the main theme is “Building Peace Together: Challenges and Visions”. In addition to the plenary sessions, there were also special sessions covering issues such as international cooperation for the restoration of peace in the Middle East, peacekeeping operations and arms control in the Korean Peninsula.
On the sideline of the Dialogue, the Permanent Secretary also paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Wang Jung-Hong, the Minister of Defense Acquisition, Defense Acquisition Program Administration to discuss on matters in strengthening defence cooperation between the two sides.

Jumaat, 6 September 2019 – Setiausaha Tetap, Brigedier Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah telah menghadiri Republic of Korea – ASEAN Defence Vice-Ministerial Meeting ke-3 dan Seoul Defense Dialogue ke-8 di Lotte Hotel Seoul, Republik Korea mulai 4 hingga 6 September 2019.
ROK-ASEAN Defence Vice Ministerial Meeting ke-3 bertujuan untuk mengimbas kembali kerjasama antara ASEAN dan Republik Korea sepanjang 30 tahun yang lalu, dan membincangkan mengenai visi kerjasama pertahanan di masa akan datang dan seterusnya berkongsi pendapat mengenai keselamatan siber. Mesyuarat tersebut telah dipengerusikan oleh Tuan Yang Terutama Park Jae-Min, Naib Menteri Pertahanan Negara Republik Korea.
Sementara itu, Seoul Defense Dialogue ke-8 telah dirasmikan oleh Tuan Yang Terutama Jeong Kyeongdoo, Menteri Pertahanan Negara Republik Korea. Seoul Defense Dialogue dianjurkan setiap tahun oleh Kementerian Pertahanan Negara, Republik Korea sejak tahun 2012. Acara tersebut bertujuan untuk menggalakkan kerjasama dalam bidang keselamatan dan keamanan melalui dialog dalam rantau Asia Pasifik, terutamanya di Semenanjung Korea.
Bagi tahun ini, tema utama ialah
“Building Peace Together: Challenges and Visions”. Selain sesi plenari, beberapa sesi khas juga dijalankan yangmana meliputi isu-isu seperti kerjasama antarabangsa untuk pemulihan keamanan di Timur Tengah, operasi pengaman dan kawalan senjata di Semenanjung Korea.
Di samping dialog tersebut, Setiausaha Tetap juga membuat kunjungan hormat kepada Tuan Yang Terutama Wang Jung-Hong, Menteri Perolehan Pertahanan, Program Pentadbiran Perolehan Pertahanan untuk membincangkan perkara-perkara dalam memperkukuhkan kerjasama pertahanan antara kedua belah pihak.
