TANAH JAMBU, Friday, 26 August 2022 – In commemoration with the Golden Jubilee of the Dental Services Royal Brunei Land Force (DS RBLF), a symposium themed “The Evolution of RBAF Dental Services” was held at the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF), Kampong Tanah Jambu.
The symposium, organised by DS RBLF, was participated by dental professionals from the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Royal Gurkha Rifles (RGR), Jerudong Park Medical Centre and other private clinics, as well as dental undergraduate students and faculty staff members from the Universiti of Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
Present as the Guest of Honour at the opening ceremony was Colonel Azman bin Haji Bangkol, Deputy Commander RBLF.
Also present as special guests were Acting Director and Senior Dental Officers from the Department of Dental Services MOH, Heads of Dental Training Programmes at UBD, Brunei Polytechnic and Institute Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) and Senior Dental Officer RGR.
The opening ceremony commenced with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a speech from the Guest of Honour. He highlighted the symposium aims to strengthen further the working relationship between the various dental services and training providers, both in the public and private sector, in Brunei Darussalam. He also took the opportunity to commend the professionalism of the entire dental community present, who had collectively contributed to the nation’s COVID-19 pandemic response. He then officiated the opening of the symposium marked by a short video presentation on the evolution of the RBAF DS throughout its 50 years.
The symposium featured a keynote lecture delivered by Colonel Dr Jefri bin Haji Abdul Razak, Chief Dental Officer of DS RBLF, titled ‘Strategic Planning Dental Services for the RBAF’, followed by sessions themed ‘Ensuring RBAF Operational Readiness via Dental Fitness’ and ‘Forensic Dentistry as a Niche Capability’.
The participants then proceeded to view a static display of the DS RBLF Mobile Dental Unit and field dentistry set-up used during a recent Hearts and Minds Dental Community Outreach initiative to Kampung Melilas. Finally, the symposium concluded with a high-tea, closing remarks and a group photo at the Ceremonial Hall, DA RBAF.
The symposium aimed to increase awareness of the developments and unique capabilities of military dentistry in the RBAF as well as to strengthen friendship and professional bonds amongst the community of dental professionals in Brunei Darussalam intended to foster cooperation and collaboration in supporting the Whole of Nation Approach.
KHIDMAT PERGIGIAN TENTERA DARAT DIRAJA BRUNEI MENGANJUR SIMPOSIUM PERGIGIAN 2022
TANAH JAMBU, Jumaat, 26 Ogos 2022 – Bagi memperingati Jubli Emas Khidmat Pergigian di Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB), satu simposium pergigian bertemakan “The Evolution of RBAF Dental Services,” telah diadakan di Akademi Pertahanan Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (AP ABDB), Kampong Tanah Jambu pada 26 Ogos 2022.
Simposium tersebut, anjuran Khidmat Pergigian, Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei (TDDB), dihadiri oleh peserta-peserta dari warga profesional pergigian dari Kementerian Kesihatan, Royal Gurkha Rifles, Pusat Perubatan Jerudong Park dan klinik-klinik swasta, serta pelajar ijazah pergigian dan kakitangan fakulti dari Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
Hadir selaku tetamu kehormat majlis ialah Kolonel Azman bin Haji Bangkol, Timbalan Pemerintah TDDB.
Turut hadir sebagai tetamu khas ialah Pemangku Pengarah dan Pegawai Pergigian Kanan Jabatan Khidmat Pergigian daripada Kementerian Kesihatan, Ketua-Ketua Program Latihan Pergigian UBD, Politeknik Brunei dan Institut Pendidikan Teknikal Brunei (IBTE) serta Pegawai Pergigian Kanan Royal Gurkha Rifles.
Majlis perasmian dimulakan dengan bacaan Surah Al-Fatihah dan diikuti dengan ucapan tetamu kehormat, dimana beliau menekankan objektif simposium ialah untuk mengukuhkan lagi hubungan kerja diantara pelbagai agensi perkhidmatan dan latihan pergigian, awam dan swasta, di Negara Brunei Darussalam. Beliau juga mengambil kesempatan untuk mengucapkan terima kasih terhadap profesionalisme seluruh komuniti pergigian yang secara kolektif menyumbang ke arah usaha menangani wabak COVID-19 di Negara Brunei Darussalam. Beliau kemudian merasmikan pembukaan simposium itu yang ditandai dengan tayangan video pendek mengenai evolusi Khidmat Pergigian ABDB sepanjang 50 tahun.
Simposium tersebut menampilkan syarahan bertajuk ‘Strategic Planning Dental Services for the RBAF’ yang disampaikan oleh Kolonel Dr Jefri bin Haji Abdul Razak, Ketua Pegawai Pergigian Khidmat Pergigian TDDB, dan diikuti dengan sesi bertema ‘Ensuring RBAF Operational Readiness via Dental Fitness’ dan ‘Forensic Dentistry as a Niche Capability’.
Para peserta turut berpeluang menyaksikan pameran statik unit Pergigian Bergerak Khidmat Pergigian ABDB yang digunakan semasa inisiatif Hearts and Minds untuk memberi khidmat rawatan pergigian di Kampung Melilas baru-baru ini. Simposium diakhiri dengan jamuan minum petang, ucapan penutup dan sesi bergambar ramai di Ceremonial Hall AP ABDB.
Simposium ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesedaran tentang perkembangan dan keupayaan unik pergigian tentera di ABDB serta mengukuhkan persahabatan dan ikatan profesional yang erat di kalangan komuniti profesional pergigian di Negara Brunei Darussalam, memupuk sifat kerjasama di antara agensi pergigian dalam sama-sama mendukung prinsip pendekatan Whole of Nation.
