JERUDONG, Tuesday, 26 January 2021 – The High Commission of India in Brunei Darussalam hosted a reception to celebrate the 72nd Republic Day of India at The Empire Brunei. 

Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Defence and spouse, Datin Hajah Kalshom binti Haji Suhaili. The arrival of Yang Berhormat Pehin was welcomed by His Excellency Ajaneesh Kumar, High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam.

Annually celebrated on 26 January, the event brought together guests from the government agencies, representatives from embassies and defence representatives from diplomatic missions in Brunei Darussalam.

Brunei Darussalam’s diplomatic ties with the Republic of India was established in 1984. Over the years, the bilateral defence cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and India has been progressing through interactions and activities such as exchange of visits, trainings, courses and participations in international defence exhibitions as well as the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation on the 2 February 2016. 

The reception witnessed a cake-cutting ceremony by the Guest of Honour and High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam. 



MENTERI PERTAHANAN KEDUA DI MAJLIS RESEPSI HARI REPUBLIK INDIA KE-72

JERUDONG, Selasa, 26 Januari 2021 – Suruhanjaya Tinggi India di Negara Brunei Darussalam telah mengadakan majlis resepsi Sambutan Hari Republik India Ke-72 di The Empire Brunei. 

Hadir selaku tetamu kehormat majlis ialah Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Menteri Pertahanan Kedua, dan isteri, Datin Hajah Kalshom binti Haji Suhaili. Kehadiran Menteri Pertahanan Kedua telah disambut oleh Pesuruhjaya Tinggi India ke Negara Brunei Darussalam, Tuan Yang Terutama Ajaneesh Kumar. 

Disambut pada setiap 26 Januari, majlis resepsi ini dihadiri oleh tetamu-tetamu dari agensi kerajaan, utusan dan perwakilan pertahanan dari misi diplomatik di Negara Brunei Darussalam.

Perhubungan diplomatik diantara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Republik India telah terjalin sejak 1984. Kerjasama pertahanan antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Republik India telah berkembang melalui interaksi dan kegiatan seperti pertukaran kunjungan, latihan, kursus dan penyertaan dalam pameran pertahanan, serta penandatanganan Memorandum Persefahaman dalam Kerjasama Pertahanan pada 2 Februari 2016. 

Majlis tersebut turut menyaksikan upacara pemotongan kek oleh Yang Berhormat Pehin dan Pesuruhjaya Tinggi India ke Negara Brunei Darussalam.
