TUTONG - In wake of the recent heavy rains and subsequent flooding in some parts of the nation, the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) have continued to play a significant support role in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations. Among those badly affected were in Kampung Layong, Kampung Rambai and Kampong Panchong of the Tutong district to which personnel from the Second Battalion of the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) were deployed to provide assistance.

Among the assistance rendered during the flood emergency include logistics and transport support. In relation to this, the RBLF utilised its boats and trucks to assist in the transportation of residents to and from their homes, ferry school children as well as government officials to get to their respective destinations.

Such HADR operations are reflective of the RBAF’s continued commitment in substantially supporting the National Disaster Management Centre, as the nation’s lead agency in disaster response, as well as other relevant agencies in rapidly and effectively alleviating the flood situation. In addition to this, such operations also contribute to fostering good civil-military relations between the RBAF, civilian agencies as well as members of the community.
