HAJI ALIRUPENDI BIN HAJI PERUDIN

By the command of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin is appointed as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence on 26 September 2023.

Prior to his appointment as Permanent Secretary, Brigadier General (Udara) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin was the Joint Force Commander, Royal Brunei Armed Forces from 25th February 2022 and was the Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Airforce from 24 December 2020 until 24 February 2022.

He joined the Royal Brunei Armed Forces in September 1992 where his professional development began upon graduating from Royal Air Force College, Cranwell United Kingdom in 1994. He then attended various career development courses locally and abroad in United Kingdom, Malaysia, Republic of Singapore and India. In 2008, he graduated with a psc from Defence Services Staff College, India and he is an alumnus of the Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College, graduating in 2016. He obtained Masters of Science in Defence and Strategic Studies from University of Madras, India and Master of Science in Defence Studies from National University of Malaysia.


Throughout his military service, he held various appointments such as Officer Commanding Base Defence Squadron, Air Regiment Training Officer, Officer Commanding No. 33 Squadron, Second-in-Command Air Regiment and Commanding Officer Air Regiment. At the Ministry of Defence, he had held the posts of Aide-de-camp to Commander Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Defence Attache of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Philippines, Military Assistant to Commander Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Staff Officer Grade 1 Personnel Director of Personnel.

Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi was awarded The Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei 4th Class (P.S.B) in 2016 by His Majesty The Sultan Dan Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. 

 

On 15 July 2022, Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi was conferred The Most Gallant Order of Pahlawan Negara Brunei, First Class (P.S.P.N.B.) which carries the title ‘Dato Seri Pahlawan’ by His Majesty The Sultan Dan Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

 

He was born in June 1973 and is married to Datin Hajah Azizah binti Haji Miramit with 5 children. Amongst his hobbies are reading, playing golf and soccer.
