MUARA NAVAL BASE, Thursday 25 August 2016 – Exercise PELICAN 35/16 was launched today with a joint opening ceremony held at the Multi National Coordination Centre (MNCC) in Muara.
The opening ceremony commenced with a welcoming remark by Commander Spry bin Haji Serudi @ Haji Seruji, the Fleet Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and a speech by Colonel Aaron Beng, the Frigate Squadron Commander of the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN). This was then followed by the officiation and activation of Task Group 35.1.
The bilateral exercise this year, in its 35th serial, aims to do more to enhance interoperability, particularly with regards to naval aviation in terms of Helo Operations and Rigid Hull Inflatable Craft (RHIC) Operations as well as to enhance relationships between personnel from both navies through social and sports interactions.
