BOLKIAH GARRISON, Wednesday 10 June 2015 – The Ministry of Defence of Brunei Darussalam and TNI of the Republic of Indonesia conducted its 2nd Joint Training and Education Sub-Committee Meeting 2015 at Officer’s Mess Bolkiah Garrison.
The meeting was co-chaired by Colonel (L) Haji Aznan bin Haji Julaihi, Director of Personnel, Ministry of Defence Brunei Darussalam and Rear Admiral Sugeng Darmawan, Assistant Personnel to the Commander-In-Chief TNI, Indonesia.
Also in attendance were the defence and military officials from both countries. Joint Training Education Sub-Committee (JTESC) is a sub committee under the BRUNESIA HLC that is charged with promoting cooperation in education and training between the two armed forces.
The meeting was held to discuss on the various activities, direction and progress of two-way exchange program in the area of training and education, as well as reviewing of the outcomes and the issues encountered throughout the period of April 2014 until June 2015. The meeting also identifies areas that could further enhance and strengthen the existing defence and military relationships cooperation between both countries.
Among the agenda being discussed this year is the 2nd JTESC Progress Report 2015 based on the schedule that has been agreed upon by the two sides, to coordinate possible future training and education in the next 2015/2016 and other matters relating to training and education that will expand working opportunities between Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia in the defence engagement area.
Training and Human Resource Development of this nature is very important for generating raise, train and sustain a defence institution, hence towards this, JTESC Brunesia will always continue and agreed to extend both countries cooperation in the area of Senior Level Visits and Programs, Defence Training for Officers and Other ranks (Specialised courses). Through these types of interchange, two countries will have the opportunity to share expertise to enhance the awareness and professionalism of personnel.
