BERAKAS, Saturday 2 May 2015 – The Inter-Ministry Sports Festival (PSKK) raised its curtain this afternoon, with five events at stake. The events contested namely Netball, Futsal, Athletics, Petanque and Tug-of-War.
The opening of the tournament was held at the National Sports Complex Hassanal Bolkiah Indoor Stadium in Berakas.
The championship was officially opened by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, the Minister of Development. Also present at the event were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports; and his deputy, Datin Paduka Hajah Adina binti Othman.
More than 1,500 people representing 12 ministries take part in the championship. This year, the festival is organised by the Youth and Sports Department, and supported by the Brunei Darussalam National Sports Associations.
Representing the Ministry of Defence at the festival was its contingent of 247 participants with the Chef de’Mission, Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Ahmad, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Technology), Ministry of Defence.
A total of 239 overall medals at stake in the games, with 74 gold, 74 silver and 91 bronze medals. The Ministry of Defence will participate in all the events.
