PYIN OO LWIN, MYANMAR, Tuesday 29 Oct 2013 – The 23rd ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (23rd AARM) has been officially opened by General Hla Htay, the Chief of Army Staff (Army, Navy, Air). The arrival of all ASEAN Deputy Chief of Army has been greeted by General Hla Htay who himself as the Guest of Honour during this event. Also present were the Senior officers from Myanmar Defence Services, Military Attaches’, ASEAN shooting Contingents and other distinguished guests.
The Opening Ceremony took place at the Defence Services Shooting Range, Pyin Oo Lwin, Myanmar.
The highlight of the ceremony is the hoisting of AARM flag and flags of all participating countries, the presentation of combat demonstration and concerts. This was followed by the general salute to the Guest of Honour and the Opening Declaration of 23rd AARM by the Guest of Honour.
The guest of honour was then invited to proceed to photo session with all Deputy Chiefs of ASEAN’s Army and later participate in the VIP Falling Plate Pistol and Carbine Novelty Shooting Competition.
The Guest of Honour then awarded prizes to the winners of the VVIP Pistol and Carbine Novelty Shooting Competition at the Defence Services Shooting Range. This was also followed by the Planting Memento Trees by all ASEAN Deputy Chiefs of Army and the visit to the Exhibition of the Weapons and Technologies of the Republic of The Union of Myanmar Army.
AARM 2013 consists ten contingents representing ASEAN Armies namely the Royal Brunei Land Forces, the Royal Cambodian Army, the Indonesian Army, the Lao People’s Army, the Malaysian Army, the Republic of The Union of Myanmar Army, the Philippine Army, the Singapore Army, the Royal Thai Army and the Vietnam People’s Army who will display their expertise and skills in this friendly shooting competition.
The firers will compete in the Skill-At-Armed meeting in the Rifles matches, Carbine matches, Pistol matches and the Machine Guns matches which will be held at the Defence Services Shooting Range, Pyin Oo Lwin, Myanmar.
