MUARA, Friday 18 November 2016 – The 22nd annual Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) exercise in Brunei Darussalam has concluded with a closing ceremony held this morning at the Nakhoda Hall, Training Centre Royal Brunei Navy in Muara. The closing event was officiated by Captain Hj Yusuf bin Masron, RBN, Chief of Staff, Joint Force Headquarters, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).
CARAT Brunei 2016 serves as a credible avenue in sharing best practices, strengthening cooperation in response to shared maritime security challenges and in enhancing interoperability among participating forces of both countries. The five-day exercise consisted of coastal-based and at-sea trainings.
This year’s iteration of the CARAT Brunei exercise involved personnel and assets from the Royal Brunei Land Force, Royal Brunei Navy, Royal Brunei Air Force, Medical teams, Legal Unit, RBAF Band, the Ministry of Defence Public Relations Unit and other government agencies. Meanwhile, the United States’ participating forces included personnel and assets from the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps.
Additional activities such as professional community exchanges, band performances and skills symposia also took place throughout the exercise.
After more than two decades of CARAT engagements, the exercise continues to be a significant platform of military-to-military cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the United States.

LATIHAN CARAT KE-22, 2016 BERAKHIR
MUARA, Jumaat 18 November 2016 – Latihan bersama Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) kali ke-22 yang diadakan di Negara Brunei Darussalam telah berakhir dengan majlis penutup yang berlangsung pada pagi ini di Dewan Nakhoda, Pusat Latihan Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei (TLDB) di Muara. Acara penutup ini telah dirasmikan oleh Kepten Haji Yusuf bin Masron, TLDB, Ketua Staf Markas Angkatan Bersama, Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB).
Latihan CARAT Brunei 2016 merupakan sebuah landasan dalam mengongsikan amalan terbaik, mengukuhkan kerjasama dalam menangani cabaran-cabaran keselamatan maritim bersama dan dalam meningkatkan interoperability antara pasukan angkatan tentera kedua buah negara. Latihan selama lima hari terdiri dari latihan di kawasan persisiran dan di laut.
Latihan CARAT Brunei pada tahun ini melibatkan anggota dan aset dari Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei, Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei, Tentera Udara Diraja Brunei, Pasukan Perubatan, Unit Perundangan, Pancaragam ABDB, Unit Perhubungan Awam Kementerian Pertahanan serta agensi-agensi Kerajaan yang lain. Sementara itu, pasukan angkatan tentera Amerika Syarikat yang mengambil bahagian termasuk anggota dan aset daripada United States Navy dan United States Marine Corps.
Aktiviti sampingan seperti pertukaran komuniti, persembahan pancaragam dan kemahiran simposium juga diadakan sepanjang latihan ini.
Setelah lebih daripada dua dekad, latihan CARAT Brunei terus menjadi landasan penting bagi kerjasama ketenteraan di antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Amerika Syarikat.
