RIZQUN INTERNATIONAL HOTEL, Tuesday 12 November 2013 – The 17th ASEAN Regional Forum Heads of Defence Universities, Colleges and Institutions Meetings is currently underway at the Rizqun International Hotel. The meeting is co-chaired by Brunei Darussalam’s Ministry of Defence and Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Defence Academy and Korea National Defence University (KNDU).
Officiating the event and delivering his Key Note Address at the event is Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin who also graciously delivered his keynote address.
In his Address, the Commander of RBAF praised 2 decades of ARF achievements since it was first established in 1994. He reiterated that ARF continue to remain relevant in the 21st Century and urge the need to strive the region together to build a stronger and more resilience community of Asia-Pacific.
The meeting is attended by the 25 ARF member states delivering their presentations on the theme‘Cooperation in Research and Academic Curricula on the Contemporary Operating Environment.’ The theme itself has been divided into three major topics namely academic research and curriculum relating to the COE, physical and other training modules relevant to the COE and other tools and collaboration efforts in addressing the COE. Officers from Ministry of Defence, Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Attorney General Chambers and University Brunei Darussalam represented Brunei Darussalam in the meeting.
The attending delegations are expected to make cultural and recreational visits to various places of interests in the capital as well as the Museum of Royal Brunei Armed Forces. For many, this is their first visit to the Sultanate. The meeting is expected to conclude on 13 November 2013.
