SUNGAI AKAR, Friday 12 December 2014 – The development and management of human resources is an essential element in fulfilling Brunei’s defence policy of capability enhancement. This gives further emphasis on the need for greater expertise, professionalism and skills in personnel at all levels of the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF). One of the ongoing initiatives towards this aim is the Junior Staff Course for junior military officers.
Today, Junior Staff Course (JSC) concluded with a closing ceremony at the Command and Staff Course Building, Defence Academy RBAF in Sungai Akar.
A total of 20 officers including 6 military officers from the Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Singapore, Thailand and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and an officer from the Royal Brunei Police Force attended the course.
Present as the Guest of Honour was the Acting Commander RBAF, First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit. In his speech he urged all the students to strive hard to work beyond what they have already mastered in order to raise the standards and continually examine and analyse new approaches and best practices to face future challenges.
Apart from presenting certificates, the Guest of Honour also presented awards to those who have excelled in the course. Captain Kuah Weiqi from the Republic Singapore Navy was awarded the Best Service Paper. The Best Research Essay and the Overall Best Student was awarded to Captain Azura binti Hidup.
The 14 week course was conducted from 8 September until 12 December 2014. Also present at the closing ceremony were Service Commanders, Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commandants, Defence Attachés and Defence Advisers, senior military and civilian officers, Directing Staff and RBAF officers.
