Captain (Rtd) Haji Mohammad Amirul Shahnoel bin Haji Mohammad Noeh enlisted into the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) in August 1995 right after graduating with an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. Graduated as a naval officer from the Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, United Kingdom in 1997.

Within the 20 years in service, He served in several appointments within the Royal Brunei Navy and the Ministry of Defence. Prior to his appointment as Director of the Centre of Science Technology Research and Development (CSTRAD), he held the appointment of Staff Officer Grade 1 Logistics in the Ministry of Defence, he was Head of Project Naval Overseer in Germany responsible overseeing the construction, commissioning and delivery of new warships for the Royal Brunei Navy. As the Director of CSTRAD he was responsible for the delivery of the S70i Sikorsky helicopters into the Royal Brunei Air Force.

He has assumed various engineering appointments from 2001 to 2005 with an overseas assignment as the Senior Marine Engineering Officer project team in Scotland, United Kingdom before returning back to the Royal Brunei Navy as the Senior Engineering Officer. Subsequently in 2007 assuming the responsibility as the Commanding Officer of the Naval Logistics headquarters in Royal Brunei Navy. Since then he has held various staff appointments within MINDEF heading the Office of Strategy Management in 2008 and an appointment as the Military Assistant to the Deputy Minister of Defence. He was awarded by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam, The Most Honourable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei (S.M.B), 3rd Class in 2012.

Professionally, he has attended various overseas courses, which includes Naval Officers Course, Command and Staff Course, and leadership management course, in the Republic of Singapore, Systems Engineering and Management Course with the Royal Navy, United Kingdom and Defence Management Course in Australia. He attended the Executive Development Program in 2011 undertaken by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP). A Chartered Engineer and Chartered Marine Engineer of the Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology, United Kingdom.

He is a Masters graduate in Public Management (MPM) from LKYSPP and was a Lee Kuan Yew Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School of Government in the United States.

He is the eldest in the family of 5 siblings, married to Pg Rimawaty binte Pg Dato Paduka Seri Haji Abidin blessed with two children, an avid outdoors sportsman of horse riding and mountain biking.
