HIS MAJESTY THE SULTAN AND YANG DI-PERTUAN OF BRUNEI DARUSSALAM RECEIVES IN AUDIENCE COMMANDER, UNITED STATES INDO-PACIFIC COMMAND

ISTANA NURUL IMAN, Tuesday, 10 September 2019 - His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam today received in audience Admiral Philip S. Davidson, Commander, United States (U.S.) Indo-Pacific Command.

Accompanying Admiral Philip S. Davidson were His Excellency Matthew J. Matthews, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of United States of America to Brunei Darussalam; and Mr. James Caruso, Foreign Policy Advisor.

Also present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Defence; and Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).

Admiral Philip Davidson and delegation is in the country for a two-day introductory visit from 9 until 10 September 2019.

Defence and military cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the United States were cemented through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation on 29 November 1994. Both sides enjoy a warm and longstanding defence relationship underpinned by extensive defence and military interactions such as exchange of visits, defence and military meetings, military exercises, trainings and courses. Both countries also cooperate with one another at a multilateral level through Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) and the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus).

Brunei Darussalam and the United States recently concluded the Final Planning Conference for the Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) bilateral exercise in August 2019, where the exercise proper for this year is planned to be conducted in October 2019.




KEBAWAH DULI YANG MAHA MULIA PADUKA SERI BAGINDA SULTAN DAN YANG DI-PERTUAN NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM BERKENAN MENERIMA MENGADAP PANGLIMA UNITED STATES INDO-PACIFIC COMMAND

ISTANA NURUL IMAN, Selasa, 10 September 2019 - Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam hari ini berkenan menerima mengadap Laksamana Philip S. Davidson, Panglima United States Indo-Pacific Command.

Menyertai bersama Laksamana Philip S. Davidson ialah Tuan Yang Terutama Matthew J. Matthews, Duta Besar Istimewa dan Mutlak Amerika Syarikat di Negara Brunei Darussalam; dan Tuan James Caruso, Foreign Policy Advisor.

Turut hadir ialah Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Menteri Pertahanan Kedua; dan Mejar Jeneral Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Pemerintah Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB).

Laksamana Philip S. Davidson dan delegasi berada di Negara Brunei Darussalam bagi lawatan pengenalan selama dua hari, dari 9 hingga 10 September 2019.

Kerjasama pertahanan dan ketenteraan di antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Amerika Syarikat telah dimeterai melalui penandatanganan Memorandum Persefahaman dalam kerjasama pertahanan pada 29 November 1994. Kedua belah pihak mempunyai hubungan pertahanan yang mesra dan lama terjalin yang merangkumi pelbagai interaksi termasuk pertukaran lawatan, mesyuarat pertahanan dan ketenteraan, eksesais ketenteraan, latihan dan kursus. Kedua-dua negara juga saling bekerjasama di dalam peringkat pelbagai hala seperti Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) dan juga ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus).

Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Amerika Syarikat baru-baru ini telah menamatkan Mesyuarat Perancangan Akhir (Final Planning Conference) bagi eksesais dua hala Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) pada bulan Ogos 2019 di mana eksesais CARAT pada tahun ini dirancang untuk diadakan sekitar bulan Oktober 2019.
