TWO FOREIGN FISHING TRAWLERS APPREHENDED FOR ILLEGAL FISHING

MUARA, Monday, 9 September 2019 – The Royal Brunei Navy Ship KDB DARULAMAN apprehended two foreign trawlers conducting illegal fishing activities in Brunei Darussalam’s waters. Both trawlers were first sighted at 0945H in the vicinity of Magpie Oilfield on Sunday, 8 September 2019.

A total of twenty-seven (27) crew members were found onboard the two trawlers. Both trawlers and the crew members were escorted and handed over to the Marine Police Royal Brunei Police Force for further investigation with the presence of representatives from the Fisheries Department.

The apprehension of these trawlers serves as a warning that illegal fishing activities conducted in Brunei waters are taken very seriously by the authorities. Local fishing communities are encouraged to assist relevant agencies upon sighting of any illegal fishing activity conducted in Brunei waters and to report immediately to the National Maritime Coordination Centre (NMCC) on their hotline +6732 2233751.



KAPAL NELAYAN ASING DITANGKAP MENJALANI AKTIVITI PENANGKAPAN IKAN SECARA HARAM

MUARA, Isnin, 9 September 2019 – Kapal Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei (TLDB) KDB DARULAMAN telah menemui dua kapal nelayan asing yang sedang menjalankan aktiviti penangkapan ikan secara haram di perairan Negara Brunei Darussalam. Dua kapal nelayan asing tersebut dijumpai pada jam 0945H di kawasan persekitaran pelantar minyak Magpie pada hari Ahad, 8 September 2019.

Kedua buah kapal mempunyai jumlah anggota seramai dua puluh tujoh (27) nelayan. Kapal tersebut ditunda balik dan diserahkan kepada Polis Marin Pasukan Polis Diraja Brunei. Turut hadir bagi menyaksikan serah terima kapal nelayan asing ini ialah perwakilan dari Jabatan Perikanan.

Penangkapan kapal-kapal nelayan asing ini diharap akan memberi amaran bahawa aktiviti penangkapan ikan secara haram di perairan Negara Brunei Darussalam adalah dianggap perkara yang serius oleh pihak berkuasa. Kerjasama dan bantuan dari pihak nelayan-nelayan tempatan adalah digalakkan untuk membuat laporan serta-merta kepada Pusat Penyelarasan Maritim Kebangsaan (PPMK) di talian hotline +6732 2233751 jika mendapati sebarang kegiatan penangkapan ikan secara haram di perairan Negara Brunei Darussalam.
