SECOND MINISTER OF DEFENCE DELIVERS KEYNOTE ADDRESS TO CSC9

TANAH JAMBU, Monday, 13 May 2019 – Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof, Second Minister of Defence delivered a keynote address on “Addressing the Contemporary Strategic and Security Environment” to the participants of the 9th Command and Staff Course (CSC 9) at the Command and Staff College, Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF) today. Upon his arrival, the Second Minister of Defence was welcomed by the Commandant of Defence Academy, Colonel Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan.

In his keynote address, the Second Minister of Defence shared the importance of understanding the contemporary strategic and security environment and the role of ASEAN in maintaining regional stability and prosperity through the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) and ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) platforms.

The Second Minister of Defence also highlighted the upcoming Defence White Paper which is scheduled to be released in 2021, in conjunction with the 60th Royal Brunei Armed Forces Anniversary.

Towards the end of the keynote address, Major Moza Syaffiarizal bin Haji Mohamad, the representative student from the CSC 9 conveyed his deep appreciation and gratitude to the Second Minister of Defence for delivering an insightful presentation. The Second Minister of Defence also received a memento presented by Lieutenant Commander Selwyn Kaye, an international student from the Royal New Zealand Navy, on behalf of the CSC 9 cohort.

After the lecture, the Second Minister of Defence was invited for a group photo followed by an interactive session with the course participants at the Command and Staff College foyer.

The 40-week course, delivered in partnership with UBD, aims to broaden officers’ perspectives and professional knowledge using tactical and academic approaches and disciplines to study the contemporary strategic environment and the implications of this environment on their practice as defence and security specialists.




MENTERI PERTAHANAN KEDUA MENYAMPAIKAN SYARAHAN KEPADA KURSUS MAKTAB TURUS AP ABDB SESI 09/2019

TANAH JAMBU, Isnin, 13 Mei 2019 – Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof, Menteri Pertahanan Kedua pada hari ini menyampaikan syarahan bertajuk “Addressing the Contemporary Strategic and Security Environment” kepada peserta-peserta Kursus Maktab Turus Akademi Pertahanan Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (AP ABDB) sesi 09/2019 di Maktab Turus AP ABDB. Ketibaan Menteri Pertahanan Kedua disambut oleh Komandan AP ABDB, Kolonel Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan.

Dalam syarahan beliau, Menteri Pertahanan Kedua menekankan tentang kepentingan dalam memahami isu strategik dan sekuriti kontemporari serta peranan ASEAN dalam mengekalkan kestabilan dan kemakmuran serantau melalui dialog ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) dan ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus).

Menteri Pertahanan Kedua juga menyentuh serba sedikit tentang Kertas Kerja Pertahanan Negara Brunei Darussalam yang dijangka akan diterbitkan pada tahun 2021 bersempena dengan Hari Ulang Tahun ABDB ke-60 tahun.

Sesi syarahan diteruskan dengan Ucapan Terima Kasih dari wakil peserta kursus, Mejar Moza Syaffiarizal bin Haji Mohamad dan diakhiri dengan penyampaian memento kepada Menteri Pertahanan Kedua yang disampaikan oleh wakil peserta kursus luar negeri dari Royal New Zealand Navy, Leftenan Komander Selwyn Kaye.

Menteri Pertahanan Kedua seterusnya dijemput bagi sesi bergambar ramai dan sesi interaksi bersama peserta-peserta Kursus Maktab Turus AP ABDB sesi 09/2019.

Kursus ini yang dijalankan selama 40 minggu dan disampaikan dengan kerjasama UBD bertujuan untuk memperluaskan pengetahuan profesional secara taktikal dan akademik bagi mempelajari isu-isu strategik masa kini dan kesannya terhadap mereka yang bertugas di dalam bidang pertahanan dan keselamatan.
