​DEPUTY MINISTER OF DEFENCE WITNESSES THE LAUNCHING OF THE TRILATERAL MARITIME PATROL INDOMALPHI

KALIMANTAN, INDONESIA, Monday 19 June 2017 – First Admiral (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, the Deputy Minister of Defence, today witnessed the launching of the Trilateral Maritime Patrol (TMP) between Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines (INDOMALPHI) on board the Indonesian Warship KRI dr.Soeharso-990 at the Tarakan Main Naval Base in Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Present to launch the TMP initiative were His Excellency Ryamizard Ryacudu, Defence Minister of Indonesia; The Honourable Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Defence Minister of Malaysia; and His Excellency Delfin Negrillo Lorenzana, Secretary of National Defense of the Republic of the Philippines.

Also present to witness the event were Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Singapore as well as the Chiefs of Defence Forces of the INDOMALPHI.

The launching of TMP marked the joint effort made by the three countries to enhance maritime security in the region particularly in the Sulu-Sulawesi Seas. The TMP aims to tackle maritime security threats especially piracy and transnational crimes such as terrorism, human trafficking and drug smuggling.

Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore attended the ceremony as observers at the invitation of the three member states of the TMP. During the visit, the Deputy Minister of Defence also attended an official dinner where he and his counterparts discussed informally issues of mutual concern.

This MCC is linked with MCC Tawau in Malaysia and MCC Bongao in the Republic of Philippines to enable information sharing, quick response, and monitoring of the waters bordering the three countries against any maritime security threats.

TIMBALAN MENTERI PERTAHANAN SAKSIKAN MAJLIS PERASMIAN TRILATERAL MARITIME PATROL INDOMALPHI

KALIMANTAN, INDONESIA, Isnin 19 Jun 2017 – Laksamana Pertama (B) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan, pada hari ini telah menyaksikan Majlis Pelancaran Trilateral Maritime Patrol (TMP) di antara Republik Indonesia, Malaysia dan Republik Filipina (INDOMALPHI) bertempat di kapal perang Indonesia, KRI dr. Soeharso-990 di Pangkalan Tentera Laut Tarakan, Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Hadir bersama bagi merasmikan inisiatif TMP tersebut adalah Tuan Yang Terutama Ryamizard Ryacudu, Menteri Pertahanan Republik Indonesia; Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Menteri Pertahanan Malaysia; dan Tuan Yang Terutama Delfin Negrillo Lorenzana, Setiausaha Pertahanan Kebangsaan Republik Filipina.

Manakala turut hadir bagi menyaksikan pelancaran itu adalah Tuan Yang Terutama Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman, Menteri Negara Kanan, Kementerian Pertahanan dan Kementerian Hal Ehwal Luar Republik Singapura serta Pemerintah-Pemerintah Angkatan Tentera dari INDOMALPHI.

Pelancaran TMP itu menandakan usahasama oleh ketiga-tiga buah negara tersebut dalam meningkatkan lagi sekuriti maritim serantau khususnya di perairan Sulu-Sulawesi. Inisiatif TMP itu bertujuan untuk menangani ancaman-ancaman sekuriti maritim terutamanya ancaman serangan lanun dan jenayah antarabangsa seperti pengganasan, penyeludupan manusia dan penyeludupan dadah.

Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Republik Singapura menghadiri majlis tersebut atas jemputan daripada negara-negara TMP sebagai pemerhati. Semasa lawatan itu, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan juga menghadiri makan malam rasmi dimana beliau secara informal telah membincangkan isu-isu kepentingan bersama.
