Inter-Ministry Tug Of War Championship

11a-1front.jpgBandar Seri Begawan, Friday 11 January 2008 - The Ministry of Defence is holding an inter-ministry Tug of War championship in conjunction with the 14th Civil Service Day.

Its opening was held last night at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien in BSB. The event's guest of honour was Pg Dato Paduka Hj Abd Hamid Pg Hj Mohd Yassin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence.

The championship will be held over three days, ending tomorrow with a prize presentation. It is broken into two divisions: Category `A' with 11 players each weighing 70kg and below, and Category `B' for 13 players with a total combined weight of not more than 1,200kg.

Some 19 teams from eight ministries will be competing in the programme aimed at 
strengthening relationships and building networks. In the speech the Chairman of the ogranising committee, Awang Yahya bin Haji Idris, also said that it was to encourage healthy activities while having fun and instilling the spirit of teamwork and good networking relations among civil service.
