BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN Wednesday 09 January 2008 – The Ministry of Defence celebrated the beginning of the New Islamic Year, the Hijrah of 1429 to spread the eminence of Islam among the Muslim community of the Ministry of Defence and to reminisce the emigration of the Prophet Mohammad SAW from Mecca to Medina.

This year’s celebration was held on Wednesday 9 Januari at the Bolkiah Garrison Surau. The event began with the reading of the al-Quran followed with the Doa for the end of the year 1428 Hijrah. After the mass Maghrib prayers, the Doa for the beginning of the new Hijrah year 1429 was read to seek blessings from Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala for the year ahead and pray for every Muslims live at Brunei Darussalam will evade from any obstacles hence obtain a prosperous and blissful lives.

The ceremony was also highlighted with a special talk about Hijrah delivered by Ustaz Awang Haji Mail bin Haji Besar, a guest speaker from the Islamiah Dakwah Centre.
