My own boyfriend said that he stayed out of LTRs for quite some time because the idea of facing the things within himself that had derailed previous relationships felt terrifying. However, he said that meeting me, and the way we are together, actually makes him want to do that work on himself and he no longer feels scared about it. He’s more focused on the good things we could have together. So being with a person can radically change the way they think about LTR potential depending on how good it is.

This makes a lot of sense to me. Intentions are very important. And sometimes you have to explore the potential awhile before you have a clear sense of whether or not it’s going to be an LTR. In other words, intentions need to be put into action to clarify them.
