So it comes down to how she manages her money, not what arrangement she’s having with her parents, this is really none of the OP’s business. What if the parents used to live there and retired in the ‘burbs and are just waiting for the market to improve and sell? That’s rather intrusive inquisition on his part.

After reading Paula’s explanation on the Maternal leave law, I realize women ( myself included) and a lot of men have clearly no idea how the system is working against women who want to have a career and a family, those choices rarely come to men. I myself dread when I have to put my career on hiatus to have children even if that’s something I want and the system will punish me for it. So do I expect the husband to support me and our kids? yes but that doesn’t mean I will not prepare for it.
