Royal Brunei Land Forces At House Handover Ceremony

Bandar Seri Begawan, Thursday 8 November 2007 - The Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Forces, Colonel Pg Dato Paduka Haji Rosli bin Pg Haji Chuchu initiated the handover of a house, which was part of the Titian Amal Project, at Kg Limau Manis.

The project, one of the activities in conjunction with the 46th Anniversary of the Royal Brunei Land Forces, is in accordance with the concept of the anniversary - enhancing strength through unity, family and society.

The project was conducted in two phases. The first phase was done between October 2 and 12, 2007, while the second phase was between November 2 and 8.

The Brunei International Women's Club (IWCB) and DST Group Communications provided the necessary tooling aids towards the implementation of this project.

Twenty-one members from the Combat Engineer Squadron Support Services Battalion provided the manpower for the construction of the houses.

Also present at the handover ceremony was IWCB's President Datin Hjh Rosinah bte Kifli and Datin Hjh Umikaltum binti Haji Mat Daud, DST Customer Service Manager.

Aside from the project, several campaigns were also held. Among them were blood donation and cleaning of the cemetry. A luncheon with the District Officer, penghulu-penghulu and village heads was also held as part of the Land Forces' effort to enhance ties with the local community.

The owner of the house, Kadir Ismail, 44, has been living in Kg Limau Manis for 10 years. He has 10 children and the youngest is aged five.
