BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Friday 06 July 2007 - The Deputy Minister of Defence, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar this morning received a courtesy call by the Singapore Chief of Army (COA) Major General Neo Kian Hong. On a separate occasion, Major General Neo Kian Hong also made similar courtesy call on the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof. Both calls were made at the Ministry of Defence in Bolkiah Garrison.

The visit by the Singapore Chief of Army significantly aims to enhance the long established bilateral relations and explore areas of military cooperation between both countries. This visit is an introductory visit by Major General Neo Kian Hong after being installed Chief of Army in March 2007.

Major General Neo Kian Hong also made goodwill calls separately yesterday on both the Commander of Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), Colonel Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Rosli bin Pengiran Haji Chuchu and the Permanent Secretary of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat. Both calls were made at the RBLF Headquarters in Berakas Garrison and the Ministry of Defence in Bolkiah Garrison respectively.

Major General Neo Kian Hong, his wife, Mrs Jane Ng Geok Hoon and delegation has been in the sultanate since 04 until 07 July. Throughout the 4 days visit in Brunei Darussalam, they also had the opportunity to visit several places of interest in the capital.
