Ministry of Defence holds Nuzul Al-Quran

Bolkiah Garrison, Saturday 29 September - The Ministry of Defence held a Nuzul Al-Quran function for 1428 Hijrah, coinciding with 2007, yesterday afternoon, at the Surau Bolkiah Garrison.

The function, to celebrate the revelation of the Holy Quran, is to highlight the holy month of Ramadhan.

Present as the chief guest was the Deputy Minister of Defence, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar.

The ceremony began with the recital of Al-Quran verses by Ak Khairuddin bin Pg Haji Metali, Officer Cadet from the Support Service Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

A religious talk was presented by an invited speaker from Malaysia, Ustaz Wan Shohor Bani bin Leman.

This was followed by a light 'sungkai' or breaking of the fast followed with a mass Maghrib prayer and a feast.

Other invited guests were the Permanent Secretary of Defence, the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Deputy Permanent Secretaries of Defence, Service Commanders and Commandants, Directors, Officers and Staffs of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF.
