`Sentuhan Kasih' for RBAF Orphans

Berakas, Friday 28 September - One hundred and fifteen orphans under the age of 18 were celebrated in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) "Sentuhan Kasih Ramadhan" ceremony yesterday at the Berakas Garrison surau.

Present as the guest of honour was Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi bin Hj Md Yussof, Commander of RBAF.

The programme was a welfare activity organised by RBAF to show their concerns and charitable efforts towards the orphans. The ceremony also saw the guest of honour and his spouse, Datin Hjh Kalsom bte Hj Suhaili, presenting the "Sentuhan Kasih" donation to the orphans as a token of remembrance and to reminisce the loyal duty of their departed parents while serving within the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

The donations came in the form of cash and beverages donated by the RBAF Welfare Fund, individuals, and the RBAF Wives Welfare Committee (BAKTI) Fund.

In a speech delivered by Chairman Lieutenant Colonel 312 Mohammad Ismaon bin Hj Zainie, he reminded the orphans to be patient and pray for a better and successful life. He also encouraged them to be independent, well educated and become devoted human beings in facing challenges in the globalisation era.

Also present at the ceremony were service commanders, directors, RBAF officers and families of the celebrated orphans.
