All Arms Air Defence Firing 13th Air Guard Exercise - Phase 2

Bukit Agok, Thursday 23 August 2007 - The second phase of 13th Air Guard Exercise between Royal Brunei Air Force (TUDB) and Singapore Air Force (SAF) begin today with the live firing of small arms by more than 50 personnel from both units.

The firing took place at the Air Regiment Firing Range Bukit Agok this morning. The second phase involves All Arms Air Defence & Forward Deployment and live sorties flown by TUDB that will simulate air-to-ground strikes on assets protected by the AIRGUARD Forces during the deployment exercises. Small arms used throughout this phase were M16 Heavy Barrel (HBAR) gun and General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG).

The objectives of this second phase are to (1) Foster closer relationship between the two units through bilateral air defence operations, (2) Sharing knowledge, methods and techniques of small arms air defence, (3) Training and practise in engaging aerial target (IMP target), (4) Effective engage fast moving target by using small arms, and (5) To demonstrate the proper conducts of All Arm Air Defence live firing training.

This 11 days exercise was jointly open by the Commander of TUDB, Brigadier General Dato Paduka Hj Mahmud bin Hj Saidin and the Chief of Air Force, Republic of Singapore Air Force, Major General Ng Chee Khern, at the hangar of No 38 Squadron TUDB, Berakas Garrison on Monday 20 August 2007.
