Chief of Republic of Singapore Navy Visits Royal Brunei Navy

MUARA, Thursday 23 Aug 2007 - Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore continues to strengthen its bilateral relations with the visit of the Chief of Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN), Rear Admiral Ronnie Tay to the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) this morning at the Muara Naval Base.

While at RBN, Rear Admiral Ronnie Tay paid a goodwill call on the Commander of RBN, Colonel (L) Dato Paduka Joharie bin Matussin. Upon his arrival at the RBN Headquarters, he was received by the guard of honour mounted by RBN personnel.

Similar call was also made separately on the same day by the Chief of Republic of Singapore Navy to the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof at the Ministry of Defence, Bolkiah Garrison.

The visit by the Chief of Republic of Singapore Navy significantly aims to enhance the military relations between Royal Brunei Navy and the Singapore Navy which has reputably been long established and to build closer friendship among both parties.

Rear Admiral Ronnie Tay, his wife, Mrs Leah Tay and delegation has been in the sultanate since 22 Aug and will leave the country tomorrow.
