Bandar Seri Beawan, Tuesday 21 Aug 2007 - His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Supreme Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and the Minister of Defence has consented to receive an audience from the Member of The Central Military Commission, Chief of The General Armament Department People's Liberation Army, The People's Republic of China, His Excellency General Chen Bingde this afternoon at the Istana Nurul Iman.

Accompanying His Excellency General Chen Bingde was the Commander of Royal Armed Forces (RBAF), Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof and the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, Her Excellency Tong Xiaoling. The Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office Datin Paduka Hajah Salbiah binti Haji Sulaiman and the Acting Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Defence Dato Paduka Haji Rashid bin Haji Abd Rahman were also present at the ceremony.

The 3-day official working visit by His Excellency General Chen Bingde aims to strengthen the long friendly relation between both countries whilst an opportunity to explore cooperation pertaining to defence between RBAF and the People's Liberation Army,The People's Republic of China..
