
Bolkiah
Garrison, Monday 20 August 2007 - The Ministry
of Defence and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF)
yesterday received an official visit from the Member
of The Central Military Commission, Chief of The
General Armament Department People's Liberation
Army, The People's Republic of China, General Chen
Bingde at the Ministry of Defence, Bolkiah Garrison.
During this visit His Excellency made a courtesy
call on the Deputy Minister of Defence, Yang Berhormat
Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri
Paduka Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar.
Prior
the courtesy call, His Excellency General Chen Bingde
was presented with the General Salute ceremony by
the Guard of Honour mounted by personnel of Royal
Brunei Land Forces (RBLF).
After
the courtesy call, His Excellency General Chen Bingde
also met with the Commander of Royal Armed Forces
(RBAF), Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major
General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji
Md Yussof in the conference room where His Excellency
and his delegations were given a presentation on
the organisational structure of the Ministry of
Defence and RBAF followed by a video presentation
on the Defence White Paper.
The
visit by the His Excellency General Chen Bingde
significantly aims in continuing the long established
bilateral relations between both countries and an
opportunity to explore areas of military cooperation
between RBAF and The People's Liberation Army, The
People's Republic of China.
His
Excellency General Chen Bingde and his 11 members
delegation has been in the country since 19 August
on a 3-day official visit and expected to leave
for Bangkok on 21 August 2007.
