Berakas, Sunday 5 November 2006 - Around 140 personnel from Mortar Platoon Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) and Royal Brunei Air Force led by the head of contingent, Major Jafar Ali bin Haji Othman left for Kota Belud Sabah, Malaysia for the joint exercise codenamed " Mertak Bersatu Exercise". The 7th series exercise for 2006 between RBLF and Malaysian Army begins from 06 till 19 November 2006. The Departing ceremony was held at the First Battalion Parade Square of the RBLF in Berakas Garison.

Prior to their daparture, the event commenced with the recitation of 'Surah Al-Fatihah' and the "Doa Selamat". The quest of honour at this event is the Commander of Royal Brunei Land Force, Colonel Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Rosli bin Pengiran Haji Chuchu.

Among the objectives of the exercise are to train both Mortar Platoons of RBLF and Malaysian Army, to enhance their planning and operational capabilities, and the same time maintain the close bilateral relationship between the two forces which have long established.
