Sunday 29 Oct 2006 - A total of 138 fresh male
recruits of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) had
been selected to undergo recruit training for the
132nd intake.
The Holding Platoon of potential permanent recruits
will undergo a three-week training regime at the
Recruit Company Training Institute, RBAF, Penanjong
Garison in the Tutong District as an orientation
programme which is also a firsthand and trial experience
for the six-month training programme.
After successfully completing the three-week training,
the potential recruits will be qualified as confirmed
recruits.
Present at the ceremony yesterday as the guest of
honour was Colonel (U) Jofri bin Haji Abdullah,
Director of Operations, Ministry of Defence.In his
address to the potential recruits, Col (U) Jofri
stated that the military is honourable and challenging,
requiring a commitment to improve and excel in every
aspect. He also highlighted that RBAF has seen many
developments, including weaponary and management
pf personnel through information technology.
Touching on peace-keeping and humanitarian aspects,
RBAF has sent peace missions abroad such as in Mindanao
and Aceh and humanitarian aid for tsunami victims
last year. Thus he highlighted these effort proves
that RBAF has increasing capabilities to provide
its services for upholding or preserving the peace
and prosperity of the nation as well as in the region.
The recruits will begin their basic military training
on the October 29 at the RBAF Training Institute
at Penanjong Garison in Tutong.
