MINISTRY OF DEFENCE CONDUCTS WORKSHOP ON
EXECUTING STRATEGY USING BALANCED SCORECARD
FOR INDONESIA DEPARTMENT OF DEFENCE

Bandar Seri Begawan, Thursday 23 Nov 2006 - A workshop on Executing Strategy Balanced Scorecard (BSC) was conducted by the Office of Strategy Management (OSM), Ministry of Defence Brunei Darussalam for 6 officers from the Indonesia Department of Defence and Republic of Indonesia National Armed Forces (TNI). The workshop was held from the 21-23 November 2006 at the Bolkiah Executive Centre at the Ministry of Defence.

The workshop aims to share experiences and knowledge embraced by the Brunei Darussalam Ministry of Defence in using the Balance Scorecard (BSC) method in managing and implementing strategy, and how the Strategy-Focused Organisation (SFO) can relate to Indonesia Department of Defence and Republic of Indonesia National Armed Forces (TNI). The officers are expected to be a Balance Scorecard (BSC) Project Team for their organisation. The workshop was also participated by 4 officers from the Ministry of Defence and Royal Brunei Armed Forces in upgrading their learning experiences.

Among other agendas conducted in the workshop are:

  1. Overview on Strategy-Focused Organisation (SFO) and Balanced Scorecard (BSC) Concepts.
  2. Strategy Mapping process (defining strategic themes; identifying objectives; developing cause-and-effect relationships between objectives).
  3. Building the Balanced Scorecard (identifying, selecting, developing and aligning measures to each objective on the strategy map; setting targets for established measures; inventorising, mapping, prioritizing, and aligning initiatives to the objectives).
  4. Creating a reporting framework.

The workshop was a review from the introductory workshop held in Jakarta on 20th August to 1st September by the Office of Strategy Management (OSM), Ministry of Defence Brunei Darussalam for 30 officers from the Indonesia Department of Defence and Republic of Indonesia National Armed Forces (TNI).
