United States of America - The Deputy Minister of Defence, Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Yasmin bin Haji Umar is making a 10-day working visit to the United States from 17 until 26 September 2006.

The Deputy Minister and his delegation will visit various defence and security establishments in the United States that will also include courtesy calls on the senior defence officials. The main aims of the visit are to foster closer bilateral relations and explore areas of cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the United States particularly in the field of defence.

The visit will also take the Deputy Minister and his delegation to a number of educational and research establishments in the country with the aim to observe their structure and academic programs and discuss possibilities of future collaboration. These visits are relevant in the continuous effort to enrich the quality of its personnel as one of the priorities of the Ministry of Defence of Brunei Darussalam.
