Bandar
Seri Begawan, Thursday, 02 Nov 2006 - A promotion
ceremony was held yesterday morning (Wed 01 Nov)
at the Bolkiah Executive Centre at the Ministry
of Defence. The promotion ceremony is especially
for Awang Muneer bin Haji Muhd Taib as a Royal Brunei
Armed Forces Cadet Officer.
Prior to the installation of Awang Muneer as Cadet
Officer, he will be attending the Australian Defence
Force Academy (ADFA) for the 2007 intake which commences
January 2007.
He will undergo military trainings as well as undertake
academic studies in the Management field for the

Muneer will be awarded the Bachelor's Degree through
the University of New South Wales and will be commissioned
as Military Officer.
Awang Muneer is a scholarship student under the
Royal Brunei Armed Forces Scholarship Scheme intake
2006. The scholarships were awarded to students
who have completed the 2005 'A' level, enthusiastic
in pursuing a career as military officer and have
achieved at least 1 Grade A and 2 Grade B as well
as passed the RBAF Officer Commissioning Body. The
RBAF Scholarship is the second most prestigious
scheme after the RBAF Supreme Commander Scholarship.
Both scholarships have high attractions and demands
among talented Bruneian students with favourable
personalities which may enable them to further their
studies up to Bachelor's Degree at renowned universities
or military academies abroad. Nevertheless this
effort will at the same time nurture them to be
future leaders in contributing towards the country's
future defence and security.
As esteem scholars, option criterias are limited.
Apart from excellent and professional academic,
the students have to keep co-curricular activity
records, project good behavioural personalities,
outstanding leadership potentials and displaying
a public service value.
