
PENANJONG,
Sunday 12 Nov 2006 - Belait District Pythons
proved that they are the best sevens rugby team
in the Sultanate after winning the RBLF Rugby 7
Tournament at the Penanjong Stadium in the Penanjong
Garrison today. The pacey Pythons crushed Royal
Brunei Yacht Club 55-5 in the final to claim the
win.
Earlier,
Pythons advanced into the final by overwhelming
Wira 7's of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces 52-7 in
the seminal, while Royal Brunei Yacht Club saw off
Bandar Blacks 26-19 in the other semi.
Meanwhile,
Bandar Blacks blanked Wira 7's RBAF 43-0 in the
Plate final. St Michael's School Boys' Rugby Club
won the Bowl final event after beating Royal Brunei
Police Force 12-7, and Satria of the Royal Brunei
Land Forces beat Sauh Emas of the Royal Brunei Navy
41-7 in the Spoon final. Petros of the Pythons was
later named as the best player in the tournament.
The
one-day tourney was organised by the Royal Brunei
Land Forces (RBLF) in conjunction with its 45th
anniversary celebration. The tournament also served
to select players to represent Brunei in the South
East Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand next year.
On
hand to give away prizes to the all winners was
the Commander of the RBLF, Colonel Pg Dato Paduka
