Bandar Seri Begawan, Wednesday 11 Oct 2006 -The Ministry of Defence this morning paid their respects in a 'Tahlil' ceremony at the Royal Mausoleum in Jalan Tutong for the late parents of His Majesty the Sultan Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam - Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit. Such religious event is held to commemorate the auspicious month of Ramadhan this year.

Around 200 personnel comprising of the Deputy Minister of Defence,
Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Permanent Secretary of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Hj Md Yussof, Deputy Permanent Secretaries of Defence, Service Commanders and Commandants, Senior Officers, Officers and personnel of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF attended the ceremony. Personnel from Royal Brunei Land Force (11.30am) and Royal Brunei Navy (12.00 noon) headed by their respective services commander continue the tahlil at the same venue.
