RIMBA AIR FORCE BASE, WEDNESDAY, 05 December 2018- 16 personnel from No.52 Squadron Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) successfully completed the Human Factors (HF) training. The training was conducted by Lieutenant Colonel Rob Joly, Head of Aviation Safety RBAirF and Staff Sergeant Lee Smith, a pilot from 7 Flight Army Air Corps based in Seria. Both personnel are UK Military Aviation Authority trained HF Facilitators.
The aim of the course is to provide HF foundation to RBAirF aircrew and engineers in enhancing aviation safety. The course also gives opportunity to the participants for an open discussion on aviation safety in a confidential setting.
Some of the themes that are covered are leadership and teamwork, organisational culture and learning, occurrence reporting, tiredness and fatigue, behaviour and biases, and stress. The 3-hour courses are conducted on a monthly basis and all RBAirF flying and engineering squadrons are mandated to complete the training.
