LIEUTENANT COLONEL (U) AMIERUL HALPI BIN TALIP




Lieutenant Colonel (U) Amierul Halpi bin Talip enlisted into the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) as on 22 June 2002. He was later commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant upon completion of 10 months Infantry Training at 55/ 2004 Officer Cadet School (OCS), Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute Military Institute (SAFTI MI), Republic of Singapore.

During the start of his career, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Amierul Halpi first assigned as Troop Officer in B Troop Rapier 33 Squadron (now known as 233 Squadron) in 2004 and has held various command appointments which includes Troop Commander in 2005, Training Officer of Recruit Company (R Coy), Training Institute Royal Brunei Armed Forces (TI RBAF) in 2009. He was the first Royal Brunei Airforce (RBAirF) officer to become an Intake Commander of 144th male recruit batch.

He was promoted to the rank Captain in 2010 and was later posted as Air Regiment (now known as No. 2 Wing) Intelligence Officer in 2012. In 2013, he was posted to No.7 Wing as Officer Commanding of 67 Squadron (now known as 77 Squadron). Later in 2014, he was promoted to the rank of Major and assumed command as Officer Commanding of 38 Squadron (now known as 238 Squadron). After finishing Squadron Command, he was then posted as Staff Officer Grade 2 Training at RBAirF Headquarters. From October 2019 he served as the Deputy Wing Commander of No.2 Wing before assuming the appointment of Wing Commander No. 2 Wing on 1st November 2021. In September 2022, he was promoted to the rank Lieutenant Colonel.

Throughout his service, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Amierul Halpi has had the opportunity to attend courses, exercise and workshop both internationally and locally. Career highlights includes United Nation Global Peace Operation Initiative (UN-GPOI) Exercise CAPSTONE 2015 at Malaysia, National Standard Operating Procedure (NaSOP), Intorduction to Multi Crisis Management from CAE MPTC Brunei, Air and Missile Warfare Workshop under Centre for Military and International Humanitarian Law (CoMIHL) with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Strategic Planning from Institute for Leadership, Innovation & Advancement (ILIA), UBD.

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Amierul Halpi vocational training includes Young Officer Ground Based Air Defence (YO GBAD) in 2007 and Instructor Gunnery Course in 2013 from Royal School of Artillery Larkhill, United Kingdom which accredited with him with Instructor in Gunnery (IG). During his gunnery course, he also received his qualification as Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Flight Authoriser, Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) an award in Education and Training and Joint Battlespace Management Course (JBMC). He was also fortunate to attend C2-GBAD course from France in 2014. ​

His staff training includes Junior Staff Course (JSC) in 2013 and Command and Staff College, Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF) in 2019 which earned him with a Graduate Diploma in Defence and Security Studies (G.D.D.S.S) from University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and a Pass Staff College (Psc) from DA RBAF.

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Amierul Halpi bin Talip is happily married to Suzina bte Mohd Hassan and is blessed with two daughters, Nur Abqarah Hidayah and Nur Fitri Farhana. Whenever he has time to spare, he likes to spend it jogging, hiking outdoors as well as chasing golf handicap.
