Lieutenant Colonel (U) Hj Habil bin Hj Adol enlisted in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) as recruit on 4th February 1998 and promoted to Officer Cadet after he completed his six months basic military training at Penanjong Camp on August in the same year. He was later commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant on the 30th September 1999 after completed his Initial Officer Training at Royal Air Force Cranwell, in United Kingdom.

He began his career as student pilot with No.3 Squadron, Flying Training School, RBAirF in September 1999 but was later transferred to Air Regiment in 2003 where he started his operational career as Air Regiment Officer. Since then, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Hj Habil has hold several key appointments in the Air Regiment, as well as Staff Officer in the RBAirF HQ, MINDEF and also as an instructor for the Officer Cadet School, Defence Academy RBAF. He is currently the Commanding Officer for the No 2 Wing, Operation Group, RBAirF since July 2018.

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Hj Habil also has attended a number of courses, among them were Air Regiment Command Post, RBAF Junior Staff Course (JSC) in 2008 and the 5th Command and Staff Course at Defence Academy, RBAF in 2015. He also represents RBAF for the Aceh Monitoring Mission (AMM) overseas deployment contingent in Indonesia from October 2005 to March 2006.

His involvement towards the success of the mission in Aceh, Indonesia earns him the AMM medal from the European Union (EU) in 2006 and subsequently honoured with the Satyalencana Dharma Nusa medal from the Indonesian President and also the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in 2007.

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Hj Habil is married to Zaila binti Hj Zaini and together they have a daughter, Nur Ameena binti Hj Habil.
