RB Navy Roles

ROLES

Brunei has a baseline of about 100 kilometers long with her territorial limit extended out to 12 nautical miles. This followed by Exclusive Economic Zone (EZZ) extended to 200 nautical miles within which, estuaries and several rivers extending well into the interior. Roles of the Royal Brunei Navy are therefore:

  • Deterrence against attack mounted by sea borne forces
  • Protection of national offshore resources
  • Maintaining Sea Lines of Communication (SLOC)
  • Surveillance of 200 nm EEZ
  • Maritime search & rescue operation
  • Support units of RBAF operational activities
  • Provide support for the other security agencies and other ministries as ordered by Ministry of Defence
