Commander Royal Brunei Land Force

Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Yussof bin Haji Abd Rahman, aged 47 is the 8th Commander Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF). He took command with effect from 12th November 2009. Brigadier General Haji Yussof began to serve with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) on 20th August 1984. He was commissioned as Second Lieutenant on 22nd March 1986 after completing the basic military course at Bolkiah Garrison and later pursued the Officer Cadet Course in Singapore.

Throughout his career, Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Yussof has held various appointments as Commander of Infantry Platoon, Commanding Officer Infantry Company and Commanding Officer Infantry Battalion. Prior assuming his post as Deputy Commander of the RBLF on 14th January 2008, Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Yussof was Head of Inspectorate Unit RBAF and Director of Personnel and Admin, Ministry of Defence. Brigadier General Haji Yussof joined the Brunei Darussalam team at the Cambodia Joint Observer International Group (JOIC) in 1992 and leading Brunei’s team of Aceh Monitoring Mission (AMM) in Nangroe Aceh Darussalam, Republic of Indonesia in 2005.

During his tenure, Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Yussof had the opportunity to attend various courses and seminars within the country and abroad. Among courses that he attended was the Jungle Warfare Course (JWC) in 1986, Junior Officer Leardership Course (JOLC) in Republic of Islamic of Pakistan in 1987, Command and General Army Staff College (CGSC) in the United States of America in 2000-2001, Executive Development Programme (EDP) Ministry of Defence in 2004 and Allied Officers War Course (AOWC) in 2006 in Republic of Islamic of Pakistan.

Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Yussof was conferred the “Most Honourable Order of The Crown of Brunei, Third Class (SMB)” in 1993, “Meritorious Service Medal (PJK)” in 2006, “Aceh Monitoring Mission” Medal from the European Union and “Satyalancana Dharma Nusa” Medal from the Republic of Indonesia in 2006.

In 25 May 2011, by the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.

His Majesty's bestowed the Darjah Pahlawan Negara Brunei Yang Amat Perkasa (The Most Gallant Order of Pahlawan Negara Brunei) First Class (PSPNB) with the title 'Dato Seri Pahlawan' to Brigadier General Haji Yussof on the 15th July 2011.

Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Yussof is married to Datin Hajah Masnunah binti Haji Ibrahim and is blessed with three children, two girls and a boy. Among his sports hobbies is badminton.
