Visits To Asean Countries

hismajesty10.jpgAt the regional and international level, His Majesty steers the country towards positive progress, while at the same time ensuring that Brunei Darussalam plays its role in accordance with its capabilities and priorities. Brunei Darussalam became a member of ASEAN on 7 January 1984. Its membership further strengthened the friendly relations with neighbouring countries so as to ensure continued peace and stability in the region.

This is evident in the establishment of defence bilateral relationship with ASEAN member countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippine and Thailand. The establishment of such bilateral relationship has enabled the forging of even closer relations with the various ASEAN member countries. As the Minister of Defence and the Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, His Majesty also performs official visits and attends conferences, meetings, seminars pertaining to defence matters.
