Opening Ceremony For English Language Course For The Foreign Armed Forces

PENANJONG GARRISON, Wednesday 15 August 2012 – The opening ceremony for the English Course was held yesterday at Penanjong Garrison. Present to officiate the opening ceremony for the course was the Commandant of the Training Institute of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Hasmee bin Haji Abd Wahab. In his speech, he emphasized that it is important to improve the knowledge in English Language, as it is one of the most important tools for communication, which is globally used. He also stated that English Language play a significant role as access to political, defense diplomacy, trade and cultural mutual understanding among Asian member states.
The Evolution Centre Training Institute of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces has successfully continued the English course for the Foreign Armed Forces for the 3rd Intake. The Institute received whelming participations from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, the Lao People’s Army and the Vietnam People’s Army. This intake marked new milestone to receive participation from the Indonesian Nasional Armed Forces. Among the course participants are Lieutenant Colonels, Majors, Senior Captain, Captains, Lieutenants, Aspirants, Chief Warrant Officers and Sergeant and Civilian Personnel. Also present at the event was First Secretary and their respective Defense Attaché.
The first English course for the Foreign Armed Forces in 2010 had only 24 participants in which the number have gradually increased to 26 participants in 2011 and this year, the third intake for the course have increased to 31 participants. The course will be conducted until the 21st September 2012.
