His Majesty Graced the Closing of 10th BISAM
PENANJONG, Saturday 28 January 2012 – His Majesty Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) consented to close the 10th Brunei International Shooting Skill at Arms Meet (10th BISAM) at the Gallery 1 Binturan Shooting Range today.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince, Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, General of Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
Upon arrival, His Majesty and His Royal Highness The Crown Prince were welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat and the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.
His Majesty’s itinerary began at the Briefing Room at the Galery 1 Secretariat Building. Prior to the briefing, His Majesty was first introduced to the Chief of Defence Forces, Chiefs of Defence Staffs and Representatives, Ambassadors, High Commissioners of participating countries, Representatives of participating countries, and Members of Main Organising Committee.
In the briefing room, His Majesty heard a welcoming remarks by the Commander of RBAF and then a briefing by Chairman of 10th BISAM, First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit. A group photo session followed hereafter.
From the briefing room, His Majesty was taken for a brief tour at the office of Chief Range Executives Officer’s officer, Media Centre, Medical Centre and Statistics Centre.
His Majesty and His Royal Highness The Crown Prince consented to participate in the VVIP Novelty Shooting Competition at the 350 metres Point Gallery Range and witness the Rifle Falling Plate Final.
The VVIP Novelty Shooting Competition was won by His Majesty comprised of His Excellency General Tan Sri Datuk Sri Zulkifli bin Mohd Zin of Malaysia; His Excellency Mr Pham Binh Man of Vietnam and Colonel Dato Paduka Haji Harrith bin Haji Abd Karim, Commanding Officer of Special Force Regiment.
Second place went to the team comprising His Royal Highness The Crown Prince; His Excellency Lt General Neo Kian Hong of Singapore; Colonel James Burn of Australia and Colonel(U) Haji Zainal Abidin bin Haji Yakub, Deputy Chairman(Technical) of 10th BISAM.
Third place went to a team comprising Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, His Excellency TNI Y Suryo Prabowo of Indonesia; Group Captain Mike Longstaff of United Kingdom and Colonel Meach Horn of Cambodia.
The fourth place went to a team comprising the Commander of RBAF, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin; Deputy Commissioner of Police Awg Bahrin bin Mohd Noor; Commodore Al-Zubir Mohd Al-Zubir of Oman and Captain Ansar Mahmood of Pakistan.
His Majesty and His Royal Highness The Crown Prince was invited for the closing ceremony of 10th BISAM with The Royal Salute. The 10th BISAM trophy presentation commenced with the marching of Pipes and Drums from the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Brunei Land Forces - the Butt Party Contingent for the 10th BISAM.
His Majesty then consented to present prize medals for matches of the VVIP Novelty Shooting Competition, Rifle Falling Plate Match, Overall Individual Pistol Match, Overall Team Pistol Match Overall GPMG Pair Match, Overall Team GPMG, ABDB Golden Jubilee Match and the 10th BISAM overall champion.
The Rifle Falling Plate Match was won by Indonesia 'B', followed by Singapore 'A' and Indonesia 'A'. The Overall Individual Rifle Match was won by Sgt Jefri bin Haji Yakub from Brunei Darussalam.
The Overall Individual Pistol Match was won by Private Sughono from the Republic of Indonesia. The Overall Team Pistol Match went to the Republic of Indonesia.
The Overall GPMG Pair Match was won by Sgt Yulianshah and Private Hendra Silalahi from the Republic of Indonesia. The Overall Team GPMG was also won by the Republic of Indonesia.
And for the ABDB Golden Jubilee Match, the winner was Team Merbuk. This year’s championship title was once again seized by Republic of Indonesia. Second place went to Royal Brunei Armed Forces and third place went to Singapore Armed Forces.
A replica of a 5.56-mm ammunition round was returned to its case to symbolise the official closing of the 10th BISAM.
