ORGANISATION
The Royal Brunei Air Force consists of 5 wings as follows:
OPERATION WING
Operation Wing consists of six units which are No 1 Squadron, No 2
Squadron, No 4 Squadron, No 5 Squadron, Parachute Airborne Tactical
Delivery Unit (PATDU) and Fire Unit.
No 1 Squadron
No 1 Squadron is equipped with Bell 212 and Bell 214ST. The primary
roles of No 1 Squadron are trooplift, casualty evacuation, medical
evacuation, fire suppression, VVIP lift, search and rescue.
No 2 Squadron
No 2 Squadron is equipped with Bolkow BO 105. The primary roles of No 2
Squadron are flying doctor, reconnaissance, surveillance, VVIP lift,
search and locate.
No 4 Squadron
No 4 Squadron is equipped with Blackhawk S-70A. The primary roles of No
4 Squadron are special combat squadron operation task, trooplift,
casualty evacuation, medical evacuation, fire fighting, VVIP lift,
search and rescue.
No 5 Squadron
No 5 Squadron is equipped with CN-235. The primary roles of No 5 Squadron are trooplift, surveillance, search and locate.
Parachute Airborne Tactical Delivery Unit
The main roles of Parachute Airborne Tactical Delivery Unit (PATDU) are
to provide jungle rescue team, jungle line resupply, multi rope abseil.
PATDU is also involve in parachute competition in regional or
international level.
Fire Unit
Fire Unit is to provide cover if any aircrafts are in emergency cases.
AIR REGIMENT
The Air Regiment consists of three units and Technical Traing School.
No 33 Squadron
The No 33 Squadron was formerly known as the Air Battery. The No 33
Squadron is equipped with the Rapier. Its capability was a short-range
missile launcher.
No 38 Squadron
The No 38 Squadron is equipped with the Mistral. It has the capability of very short-range missile launcher.
Base Defence Squadron
The role of Base Defence Squadron is to protect the Rimba Air Base and Forward Operating Base.
The Technical Training School is responsible in producing qualified technician for Air Regiment and organising courses related to Air Regiment.
LOGISTICS WING
The Logistics Wing consists of three units which are the Engineering
Squadron, Supply Squadron and Technical Equipment Maintenance
Department (TEMD). The role of the Engineering Squadron is to provide
and maintain aircraft serviceability for operational use. The role of
Supply Squadron is to provide logistical support and equipment for the
personnel. The role of the TEMD is to provide maintenance for the
aircrafts.
TRAINING WING
The Training Wing consists of No 3 Squadron also known as Flying
Training School (FTS), Air Technical Training School (ATTS) and
Standard and Evaluation Squadron (STANEVAL). Training Wing is
responsible in recruiting pilots & technicians, training pilots and
technicians, preparing pilot instructor courses and flying standards.
No 3 Squadron
The No 3 Squadron is equipped with Jet Ranger Bell 206 and Pilatus MK
II. The role of No 3 Squadron is to conduct Basic Flying Training,
Multi Engine Lead-in Flying Training, Rotary Wing Basic Flying
Training, Ground School and conduct Royal Brunei Air Force pilot
selection process.
Air Technical Training School.
The role of Air Technical Training School (ATTS) is to produce
qualified aircraft technician and conducts technical training
undertaken for Royal Brunei Air Force personnel in-state. ATTS also
plans for technical training conducted out-of-state.
Standard and Evaluation Squadron
The role of Standard and Evaluation Squadron is to conduct flying
standardization of instructors and operational aircrew, supervise all
Qualified Helicopter Instructor (QHI*s) and Qualified Flying Instructor
(QFI*s) where appropriate, to advice Training Wing Headquarters on
overall standards of Royal Brunei Air Force and to ensure general
flying practice in accordance to Royal Brunei Air Force Standing
Operating Procedure.
ADMINISTRATION WING
The Administration Wing consists of the Physical Training Section, Pay
Office, Regimental Police, Military Transport and Civilian Office.
