Receives 2 New Darussalam Class Patrol Vessels

frontGERMANY, Friday 7 January 2011 - The Royal Brunei Armed Forces recorded another significant milestone in its history with the official acceptance of two DARUSSALAM Class Patrol Vessels, namely KDB DARUSSALAM and KDB DARULEHSAN.

The construction of these ships manifested the commitment of the government of His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Of Negara Brunei Darussalam in further enhancing the Royal Brunei Armed Forces capability, in particular the Royal Brunei Navy, to defend the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as stated in the Defence White Paper 2004 and the update 2007.

The handing over ceremony took place at Lürssen Shipyard, Germany and accepting on behalf of the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was the Deputy Minister Of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat.

The DARUSSALAM Class is the first of its class with a length of 80 metres and 13 metres wide. It is propelled by diesel engines and has an endurance of 21 days at sea.  The ship is equipped with surface to surface missile and a medium calibre gun.  Both ships are expected to start their maiden voyage back to Brunei in March and expected to arrive in May this year, in time for the 50th Anniversary of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.  The ships will be manned fully by officers and men of the Royal Brunei Navy personnel.

The day before the acceptance ceremony, the third DARUSSALAM Class ship, DARULAMAN, was launched, marking the first time the ship was laid into the water. The ship will undergo the Harbour and Sea Acceptance Trials before the plan delivery in August this year.

Previously, a total of four 41 metre IJHTIHAD Class Fast Patrol Boats have been commissioned into service with the Royal Brunei Navy, where two of the ships began operating since March 2010 followed by another two in August 2010.  The IJHTIHAD Class is also part of the project between the government of His Majesty The Sultan And Yang Di-Pertuan Of Negara Brunei Darussalam and Lürssen.

The DARUSSALAM class ships will also replace the Missile Gun Boat WASPADA class whom had been in service with the Royal Brunei Navy for more than 30 years.



ABDB TERIMA 2 BUAH KAPAL PERONDA KELAS DARUSSALAM

JERMAN, Jumaat 7 Januari 2011 - Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei telah mencatat satu sejarah dengan penerimaan dua buah Kapal Peronda Kelas DARUSSALAM iaitu KDB DARUSSALAM dan KDB DARULEHSAN.

Penerimaan kapal-kapal tersebut telah menunjukkan komitmen Kerajaan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam dalam perkembangan keupayaan Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei khususnya Angkatan Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei bagi mempertahankan kedaulatan dan integriti teritorial Negara Brunei Darussalam seperti yang dinyatakan didalam Kertas Putih Pertahanan 2004 dan Kemaskini 2007.

Majlis Penerimaan berlangsung di Lurssen Shipyard, Lemwerder, Persekutuan Republik Jerman dan menerima bagi pihak Kerajaan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam ialah Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat.

Kapal kelas DARUSSALAM adalah merupakan kelas kapal yang pertama  yang dibina. Ianya berukuran 80 meter panjang dan 13 meter lebar. Kapal tersebut digerakkan menggunakan enjin diesel dan mempunyai daya tahan operasi selama 21 hari.  Kapal ini juga dilengkapi dengan sistem peluru berpandu anti-permukaan kapal dan persenjataan kaliber sederhana. 

KDB DARUSSALAM dan KDB DARULEHSAN dijangka memulakan pelayaran balik ke Negara Brunei Darussalam pada bulan Mac ini dan dijangka tiba pada bulan Mei, sebelum Upacara Hari Ulang Tahun Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei ke 50. Pelayaran balik kapal-kapal tersebut akan dikendalikan sepenuhnya oleh krew kapal yang terdiri daripada pegawai-pegawai dan anggota-anggota Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei.

Sehari sebelum Majlis Penerimaan kapal, kapal ketiga Kelas DARUSSALAM iaitu DARULAMAN telah dilancarkan yangmana menandakan kali pertama kapal tersebut dilancarkan ke air.  Dengan pelancaran ini, kapal DARULAMAN akan dapat menjalani Harbour and Sea Acceptance Trials sebelum rancangan penerimaannya pada bulan Ogos tahun ini.

Sebelum ini, sejumlah empat buah kapal 41 meter kelas IJHTIHAD telah ditauliahkan untuk beroperasi di Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei yangmana dua buah kapal telah beroperasi sejak bulan Mac 2010 dan diikuti dengan dua buah kapal pada bulan Ogos tahun lepas. Kapal-kapal kelas IJHTIHAD tersebut juga merupakan projek diantara Kerajaan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam dengan pihak LÜrssen.

Kapal-kapal kelas DARUSSALAM juga akan menggantikan kapal-kapal peluru berpandu kelas WASPADA yang telah berkhidmat di Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei selama lebih dari 30 tahun.
