Mohd. Sahrip Bin Othman was born on 4 May 1962 in Tutong, Brunei Darussalam. He graduated in July 1985 with a BA (Hons) in International Studies from UK.He was appointed as Deputy Permanent Secretary II at the Ministry of Defence on 1 March 2008.
Mohd Sahrip service with the Government began in July 1985 as an Administrative Officer Grade 1 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He later served as a Second Secretary at the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia (1990-1992), Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Beijing, People’s Republic of China (1993-1994) and Minister Counselor at the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Tokyo, Japan (1998-2002).
In September 2002, he assumed the post of the Director of Policy Planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
In November 2006, Mohd Sahrip was appointed as High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Australia. In March 2007, he was concurrently accredited as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Chile.
Mohd. Sahrip is married to Norhashimah Haji Sawal and they are blessed with five children.
