Major General Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin S.M.B, P.J.K, BSc (Hons), Fellow of ACDSS, MA, psc joined the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and commissioned as Lieutenant on 19 September 1988. During his service, he had held numerous staff and command appointments such as Head of Research Wing and Staff Officer Grade 1 at Defence Minister’s Office/Directorate of Strategic Planning Ministry of Defence, Second in Command and Commanding Officer of the Second Battalion, Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), Commandant Training Institute Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Commander RBLF. Major General Haji Aminuddin Ihsan led the first Brunei’s International Monitoring Team in the Republic of the Philippines from 2004 until 2005 and played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Officer Cadet School in September 2008.
Major General Haji Aminuddin Ihsan holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Arts Degree in Military Studies. He had attended various professional and career courses which include the International United Nations Military Observer and Staff Officer Course, the Battalion Tactics Course, the Joint Staff Course in United Kingdom and the Australian Centre for Defence & Strategic Studies where he was awarded the fellowship of ACDSS.
Major General Haji Aminuddin Ihsan was awarded the Most Honorable Order of the Crown of Brunei (S.M.B. - 3rd Class) in 2003 and the Meritorious Service Medal (P.J.K.) in 2007. He was also awarded the Combat Commander’s Badge from the Republic of Philippines in 2005. On 28 December 2009, he was promoted to the rank of Major General and was appointed as the Commander RBAF on 31 December 2009.
Major General Haji Aminuddin Ihsan was born on 23 July 1966. He is married to Nurhayana Janis binti Abdullah @Janice Lim Liau Yan and is blessed with two children.
