Commander Royal Brunei Navy

First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Mohd Hanifah SMB ndc, MA, psc (j), pwo was born on 24th January 1965. He enlisted to the Royal Brunei Armed Force on 24 July 1982 and began his carrier with the Royal Brunei Navy as an officer cadet in 1983. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant in 1985 after successfully attending courses in Britannia Royal Naval College. In 1987, he was promoted to Lieutenant. He was promoted to Captain in 1990 and was further appointed to Major four years later. In 2004, he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and promoted to Colonel in 2007. In 2008, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to appoint him as a Commander of Royal Brunei Navy.

During his early services with Royal Brunei Navy, First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim held some appointments included Navigation Officer, Executive Officer on KDB Pejuang, Commanding Officer of KDB Seteria, Flotilla Navigating Officer and Training Officer.

First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim had attended several military related courses overseas. Some of these courses include International Midshipman, Service Fund Accounting, Maritime Surveillance, International Long Navigation, Advance Command and Military Staff Course. Despite his demanding work commitment, he still managed to earn two Master Degrees, Master of Art in Defence Studies and Master of Science in Strategic Studies.

First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim was conferred the Most Honorable Order of The Crown of Brunei, Third Class (S.M.B.), General Service Medal (GSM), Pingat Jubli Perak KDYMM, Pingat Jubli Perak ABDB and Singapore’s Prestigious Military Award, the Meritorious Service Medal (Military) or Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera).

In 25 May 2011, by the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam he was promoted to First Admiral of the Royal Brunei Navy.

His Majesty's bestowed the Darjah Pahlawan Negara Brunei Yang Amat Perkasa (The Most Gallant Order of Pahlawan Negara Brunei) First Class (PSPNB) with the title 'Dato Seri Pahlawan' to the First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abd Halim on the 15th July 2011.

First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim is married to Datin Hajah Umiyati Binti Haji Mohammad Noor and blessed with five children (1 daughter and 4 sons). He is active in football and golf.
